Sick Time

I can’t believe we’re sick. AGAIN. I love daycare and the fact that it allows me to work, but I am so over Sprog bringing home what feels like every illness under the sun. It seems like we have tried almost everything to keep the sickness out, but our methods never last for very long. But I digress.

For me, the best part of being sick is that I finally get a chance to sit down and catch up or re-watch some favorite shows. Right now, I’m watching Supernatural for what feels like the 50th time, but is probably just the 5th. Before I get too far into it, if you haven’t watched Supernatural, you should. The first 5 seasons are the best, especially if you love supernatural lore such as demons, werewolves, vampires, and more. And, you know, uber-attractive men and classic rock. I started watching this show when I was in high school, and way more of a wimp than I am now. I laugh now, but I had a whole ritual down for those first couple of seasons. I would have to make sure there were lights on throughout the room, the volume wasn’t too loud, and of course that I had company to scream with/assure me that I ghost hadn’t sneaked up on me.

For me, Supernatural is one of those shows that you can jump into at anytime, and still enjoy it as much as you did at the beginning. The San Diego Comic Con just happened, which is neat, but disappointing at the same time. Supernatural was the only CW show that didn’t have a trailer. Ugh! But, when you have Misha Collins sneaking around the set, it kind of balances out. Supernatural is such nostalgia for me and joins the likes of Charmed, Buffy, and Angel. I can’t wait for the chance to share such great shows with Sprog but, with him being 2, most shows are still too much for him. However, he does like Doctor Who. Oh, and Pokemon. Because of the new Pokemon Go game out, my husband has been all Pokemon, all the time. We rented Pokemon 2000 the other night and watched it. To my surprise, Sprog asked to watch it again and again the next day! I think that means we’re on the right track for raising a next generation nerd, if I do say so myself.

So, between cleaning up puke, disinfecting yet again, and providing cuddles, I’ve found some time to watch my show. How do you spend sick time? Do you have any favorite shows or books that you like to break out to pass the time?
